Black and white portrait of fine art photographer Kenn Costanzo in formal attire

KENN COSTANZO

Fine Art Photographer | San Francisco

My photography explores urban solitude; those quiet moments when a city pauses and reveals its true character. Working in black and white, I strip scenes down to their essentials: light, shadow, line, and form.

I'm drawn to the relationship between people and the architecture around them. My images show solitary figures moving through pools of light or corridors of shadow; these aren't portraits, they're about scale and geometry, about how we exist within these massive urban spaces.

Black and white helps me to see differently. I search for moments when natural light transforms an ordinary street corner or building into something dramatic. That's when I shoot; when the familiar becomes extraordinary just by paying attention to how light falls.

Each photograph is an invitation to slow down and notice. In a world that moves too fast, I hope my work offers a moment to pause, to look closely, and to find something beautiful in the everyday rhythms of city life.

Based in San Francisco, I work primarily in the urban environments of the Bay Area. The city's interplay of light and architecture, its unique fog and shadows, and the solitary figures moving through its streets form the core of my visual language. Each photograph seeks those fleeting moments of stillness and beauty that reveal the soul of this place I call home.
